Whiteboards are included in our video sessions so providers can share information or diagram information for other participants.
Please note the following
Whiteboards are not collaborative
- Each person who opens a whiteboard has their own unique whiteboard instance.
Whiteboard data is not saved
- Anything entered in the whiteboard is not saved and when the whiteboard is closed it is cleared. Starting a new whiteboard session will open a new whiteboard session
Within a whiteboard session you are able to:
- Create shapes such as rectangles, circles, diamonds
- Create arrows
- Create lines
- Free hand draw
- Add text
- Upload an image
How to start a whiteboard session
To begin a whiteboard during a session, please take the following steps:
- Click the whiteboard button while holding the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac)
- Select the Whiteboard tab from sharing window that is open
Other participants will now be able to view your current whiteboard session
Didn't hold the Ctrl or Command key?
If you did not hold the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) your browser will immediately open the new whiteboard tab. In this case, please take the following steps:
- Navigate from the new whiteboard tab back to the video session (Google Chrome used in below screenshots)
- Select the Whiteboard tab from sharing window that is open
Other participants will now be able to view your current whiteboard session
Missed Sharing the Screen?
If you missed the screenshare selection when opening the whiteboard, take these steps:
- Click the Share button in the system tray
- Select the Whiteboard tab from sharing window that is open
Other participants will now be able to view your current whiteboard session
Using the Whiteboard
After starting a whiteboard session you are able to do the following:
- Create shapes such as rectangles, circles, diamonds
- Create arrows
- Create lines
- Free hand draw
- Add text
- Upload an image
Within the whiteboard session you can access the above tools through the system tray located at the top of the screen.

Hand:
- This tool will allow you to pan the whiteboard canvas
- Shortcut: H key

Selection:
- This tool allows you to select and move elements on the canvas
- Shortcut: S key or 1

Rectangle:
- This tool allows you to create a rectangle shape
- Shortcut: R key or 2

Diamond:
- This tool allows you to create a diamond shape
- Shortcut: D key or 3

Circle:
- This tool allows you to create a circle shape
- Shortcut: C key or 4

Arrow:
- This tool allows you to draw an arrow
- Shortcut: A key or 5

Line:
- This tool allows you to draw a line
- Shortcut: L key or 6

Draw:
- This tool allows you to freehand draw shapes
- Shortcut: P key or 7

Text:
- This tool allows you to add text to the canvas
- Shortcut: T key or 8

Insert Image:
- This tool allows you to upload an image from your device
- Shortcut: I key or 9

Erase:
- This tool allows you to erase elements on the canvas
- Elements can also be deleted by selecting them and pressing the delete key on your keyboard
- Shortcut: E key or 0
With an element selected, a styling window will appear on the left hand side allowing you to update the elements appearance.
Attributes that can be updated include:
- Stroke colour
- Background colour
- Stroke width
- Stroke style (dotted, solid etc)
- Opacity
- Edge style (round or sharp)
Ending a whiteboard session
To end an active whiteboard you can do any of the following:
Please note: All content you add to the whiteboard will be cleared when you close the Whiteboard tab
From the System Tray
- Navigate back to the tab with the video session
- Click the Stop button in the system tray
Closing the browser tab
If you are sharing a specific browser tab (as outlined above) closing the tab will stop the screenshare
Stop Sharing Dialog (browser)
Your browser may show a dialog on the tab, screen or window that you are sharing. If so, clicking Stop sharing will end the screenshare.
